Why Women Wear Expensive Shoes

Cass Almendral Question. When a single woman in New York wears a pair of thousand dollar heels out to a club, is she really trying to impress me - or is she secretly trying to appear successful in the eyes of the other women? ladies?

She's trying to tell everyone that she has no real self worth yet also fit in with other people with no self worth by telling them all that she dares that no one else has lower self worth than she has.

It's for themselves and possibly the other ladies...Women know that men only understand that heels are sexy, whatever the price tag

Mercedes?? Perhaps from a girl who would try to impress guys with shoes at a club. Sounds like someone had an unfortunate experience. Perhaps a yacht >200 ft. :P

Actually the dancing on the table is usually for me, and has nothing to do with the shoes.

I'm a fashionista so I think women does it for themself to feel good. What gets me is when a women is dressed in chezzy outfit and tacky shoes caring a designer bag. For me, I think that is showing off your purse when it could be fake.

Definitely for her.... I suspect though if the shoes make her feel good- she would exude confidence and sex appeal -which would cause her to be noticed anyway... (same can be said for sexy underwear ; )

Correction:AMON--Egypt is the cradle of your religion. The God AMON was the prototype for Zeus...for Jupiter...and for every modern face of GOD. To this day , every religion on earth shouted out a variation of him name. Amen! Amin! Aum!

Easy answer: shes doing it for the same reasons a man drives a ferrari. at the end of the day, its society telling us what will make us feel good wearing, driving, buying, consuming. in my humble opinion, people that are confident from within and truly love who they are, they will only fall subject to the material things once in a while (for fun, ... What does the price of the shoes have to do with anything other than the importance to herself? If she can easily afford to buy them, the price is of little consequence. Why would a man be attracted to a woman because of her shoes for any other reason that they look good or sexy? If they are expensive but not good looking, they are useless to men. ... Read MoreIf they are great looking and inexpensive they may be interesting to men, but that may be only the starting point to look for other interesting attributes. Usually, it's the whole package that matters. I would question the value of a man who would know the price of a woman's shoes, or would even pay much attention to shoes in the first place ...unless he was in the shoe biz.

the higher the heel, the sexier the walk, the sexier: whether that means the style or price tag, the more empowered the sexual delivery

“You put high heels on and you change.” -- Manolo Blahnik

Blahnik started as an architect. Although really well made men's shoes are more comfortable, I am told that high end women's shoes will actually change a woman's posture, her mood, etc.--and it's not all about price.

I would just ware them because I LOVE expensive sexy high heel shoes! I like the way they look and feel! Simply just for that! But the two reasons you described above do exist, not in all women though! Only women who need to impress men with Shoes and show off to other ladies! Thats ridiculous!

If I had to choose between a sexy dress or sexy shoes, I would vote for the woman with the sexy dress ...it's much closer to her smile and her eyes.

Albert, Andrew and all of the women in this thread express the shoe love story well. I just interviewed and filmed Manolo Blahnik for Fashion Night Out at his NY boutique. If you would have seen the celebs and others waiting to get his autograph on the bottom of the shoes they bought that night-you would understand a bit more how it works. If you are interested in being alerted when my TV show special airs with the MB interview, please email me at venturepck@aol.com.

The American preoccupation in luxury goods (whether they can afford them or not) is part of our shallow life values and economic suffering. It is not news to me that women have an infatuation with shoes; and I'm aware of designers becoming millionaires. I helped one artist to create the largest collection of shoes see... http://www.agentandy.com/agentandy/IAC_CS_Millionaire.htm

Andrew-helping in business negotiations for miniature shoe figurines as an artist's agent-hardly makes you a shoe or luxury goods expert. I have actually done consulting for luxury goods clients-Valentino and Zegna. Lux shoes and handbags are longer lasting than clothes and bought more often because of their value. But you confirm my view with your client's success-that women just love shoes-tiny or life size!

I never claimed to be a "shoe or luxury goods expert". I'm an agent for creative professionals and a marketing services guy. I was only claiming to be very knowledgeable about women loving shoes. I'm also a social dancer ...especially Argentine tango. The women in the dance community are always talking about their dance shoes.
